Big K is Coming Too

Big K is coming with us.  He is a new addition to our family as his previous family decided it would be a great idea for him to see the world.  He has shown a great deal of interest in what we are doing and where we are going.  He is so inquisitive and asks so many questions it is hard to keep up with him.

But wait, there's more to this story....Click on the Read more>> button on the next line.

The reason he can now go to Tanzania is he was initially trialling for NRL club Cronulla Sharks, but for some reason missed the final cut.  They praised him for his ability to read the game and jump through the defence, but he just didn't fit the team structure they were building.  He was even trying to organise a bout with Sonny Bill, but some South African dude took his place at the last minute.  We believe Big K was overlooked because the South African was a softer opponent.  Big K has a fantastic jab and recently he has been dabbling with UFC so he can use his complete array of offensive skills - just watch that kick, it delivers a real knockout blow.

He is currently educating himself in Swahili so he can find his way round Tanzania from day 1, and he seems to be quite fluent.  Only time will tell.  His previous family taught him Spanish and he even speaks French, German and Japanese.

Big K has suggested he may teach languages at St Jude's once he settles in, but that will have to wait to see if it fits in with his social calendar.

I don’t see food as a problem as it appears he will have his natural diet from what I've seen.  The only problem will be the other locals as he gets very territorial around meal times.

As with us, Big K is determined to make it to the top of Mt Kilimanjaro, rock the night away in Zanzibar (not too sure the rest of us will be there all night), and mix it with the locals on an African safari.  The only problem will be controlling his wandering as he tends to go off with others without notifying us of where he’s going or how long he’ll be away.  Sound like others you know?

He has been known to frequent the local nightspots and has some very attractive friends.

At one of our farewell functions Big K took centre stage when he noticed an open stubby of beer.  The results were not pretty.  I hope that was a lesson for him, but in my heart I know it won't be the last.

To ensure he's in peak condition Big K is training twice a day on hills and cross country. He is coming along in leaps and bounds and I have no doubt he'll be able to jump over any challenge put in front of him.

Today Big K came with me on a 1.5 hour walk around Mt Coot-tha and didn't raise a sweat.  Me on the other hand ended up with a blister on the back of each heel - ouch!!  It only hurt on uphills.

It's now under 4 weeks before we depart and we are all getting excited.
