Megan's visit was great and we ended up going
out for dinner on Tuesday and Wednesday nights.
On Thursday we attended a St Jude's volunteer BBQ with Megan.
This has been a week of events. We received our first visitor, Megan, went
for dinner Tuesday and Wednesday, had a Volunteer BBQ on Thursday, the Friday
we headed off to Nairobi for the weekend.
The trip to Nairobi was 2.5hrs longer than
planned so I missed my meeting with Microsoft.
Traffic in Nairobi on a Friday afternoon is the worst traffic I've seen
anywhere. I think we were stopped for
longer than we were moving once we got about 10km from the centre of Nairobi,
and guess where we were staying, in the centre.
The roads were good apart from the border
crossing which is a rough track for about 2kms on the Kenyan side.
Today was a public holiday in Kanya
celebrating 50 years of independence and luckily the traffic was very light so
we made our first stop at the bead shop before it opened.
Next stop was the elephant orphanage. I will let the picture do the talking.
After that we went for lunch where I found
heaven. Free wifi, the Qld Reds were
playing the Rebels (Rugby Union for the uninitiated), and a hamburger. Unfortunately they changed channel to watch
the 50yr presentation, but then changed it to the NBA. When they realised I was the only one
watching the TV it went back to the Reds game.
Next was the giraffes. Once again I will let the pictures tell the
story.
What a great day. Tomorrow it's back home to Arusha.
Until next time.
